What Bankruptcy Trustees Do
Bankruptcy trustees (formally known as Licensed Insolvency Trustee) are regulated by the Government of Canada with the responsibility of overseeing bankruptcy issues. They ensure that bankrupts repay their creditors and work to rehabilitate bankrupts so that they can once again become productive members of society. Bankruptcy trustees are tasked with ensuring that the bankruptcy estate is appropriately administered and any assets of the estate are distributed as required by law.
Trustees must also keep an eye on how much money a bankrupt has in their separate bank accounts, trusts, or other assets. This helps make sure that the bankrupt doesn’t have any personal money left over after paying creditors and covering costs such as legal fees. Read on to learn more about what a trustee does and what qualifications you need for this job.
